This Privacy Policy describes how Oliver Cristian Uriarte Flores ("Hoap", "we") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use Hoap (hoap.io), the platform for reporting and reuniting lost and found pets.

By using Hoap you accept the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. For any questions, contact us at hello@hoap.io.

1. Data we collect

We collect the following data, depending on how you use Hoap:

  • Account data: when you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, profile picture, and Google account identifier. If you register with email and password, we collect your email address.
  • Pet reports: photos, description, attributes, approximate last-seen location, and any contact details you choose to publish.
  • Payments and rewards: when you offer or claim a reward we process the information needed via third-party payment providers (Culqi for payments in Peru and PayPal for international payments). We do not store full card details.
  • Communications: messages and emails you exchange with us or with other users through the platform.
  • Technical data: IP address, device type, browser, language, and usage data collected via cookies and similar technologies.

2. How we use your data

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
  • Publish your reports and help match lost and found pets.
  • Process rewards and related payments.
  • Send you notifications and transactional emails (e.g. matches or account verification).
  • Prevent fraud and abuse and keep the service secure.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with providers that help us operate the service, under confidentiality obligations:

  • Google — authentication (Sign in with Google).
  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Vercel — application hosting.
  • Resend — email delivery.
  • Culqi and PayPal — payment and reward processing.
  • Modal — photo processing to generate visual fingerprints (embeddings) used to search for matches.
  • Google (Gemini) — additional visual verification of the best matches.
  • Authorities, where required by law.

4. Publicly visible information

Pet reports (including photos, approximate location, and any contact details you choose to include) are publicly visible to help reunite the pet. Do not include sensitive information you do not want to be public.

5. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. You may request account deletion at any time.

6. Your rights

Under Peru's Law No. 29733 (Personal Data Protection Law) and its regulations, you have the right to access, rectify, cancel, and object to the processing of your personal data. You can export a copy of your information from your account settings.

7. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

8. Minors

Hoap is not directed to minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us so we can delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the current version on this page and update the last-updated date.
