Terms of Service

1. The service

Hoap is a platform that lets you post reports of lost and found pets, search for matches, and optionally offer rewards for a reunion.

2. Your account

• You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure.
• You are responsible for activity carried out from your account.
• You must be of legal age to use the service.

3. Content you post

You are responsible for the content you post (photos, descriptions, and contact details). You grant us a limited license to display that content within the service to help reunite pets. You must not post content that is illegal, false, infringes third-party rights, or endangers others.

4. Rewards and payments

Hoap does not currently process payments, and the rewards feature may not be enabled. When it is enabled, the following terms will apply:

• Rewards are offered voluntarily by the person looking for their pet; Hoap only facilitates the process and does not guarantee payment between users.
• Payments will be processed through Culqi (Peru) and PayPal (international). We may charge a service fee, the amount of which will be clearly disclosed to you before you confirm any payment.
• Funds may be held in escrow and released to the person who found the pet once the person who offered the reward confirms the reunion or the agreed conditions are met.
• If the reunion does not happen or the reward is not claimed, held funds will be returned to the person who offered them. We honor the right of withdrawal and other rights granted to you by Peru's Consumer Protection Code (Law No. 29571).
• Any payment dispute may first be raised with our team at hello@hoap.io; this does not limit your right to use the Complaints Book (Libro de Reclamaciones) or to turn to INDECOPI.

5. Prohibited conduct

• Using the service for fraudulent or unlawful purposes.
• Impersonating other people.
• Harassing, threatening, or harming other users.
• Attempting to breach the platform's security.

6. Limitation of liability

Hoap is an intermediary tool. We do not guarantee that a pet will be reunited or the accuracy of user-posted content. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from use of the service or from interactions between users.

7. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may close your account at any time.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. We will post the current version on this page and update the last-updated date.

9. Governing law

Hoap is operated from Peru and is available to users in different countries. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Peru, and any dispute will be submitted to the courts of Lima, Peru.

If you use Hoap as a consumer from another country, you keep the minimum, non-waivable rights granted by the laws of your place of residence. For consumers in Peru, nothing in these terms limits your right to turn to INDECOPI.
